2013 Château Saint-Roch Kerbuccio Maury Sec $20 Rating: 95
Château Saint-Roch's 2013 Kerbuccio Maury Sec is the greatest value I've tasted in years. Coming all from the incredible black schist soils of Maury (this is in the Roussillon) and made from 40% Syrah, 30% Mourvedre and 30% Grenache, it was brought up all in concrete and bottled unfiltered. It tastes like the essence of the beautiful place and while it doesn't skimp on fruit or texture, it has awesome purity and freshness.
www.chateausaintroch.free.fr2013 Domaine Lafage Tessellae Vieilles Vignes $14 Rating: 94
Another incredible 2013 from the Roussillon, the 2013 Domaine Lafage Tessella Vieilles Vignes is 100% Carignan that comes from 70-year-old vines and was brought up all in concrete tank. It's an old-world styled fruit bomb that has real depth. As I said in the initial review, just pretend you paid more for it.
www.domaine-lafage.com2012 Domaine de Bila Haut Cotes du Roussillon Village Latour de France Occultum Lapidem $25 Rating: 94
A blend of mostly Syrah, with small parts Grenache and Carignan, the 2012 Bila Haut Occultum Lapidem was completely destemmed and brought up in a combination of concrete tank and demi-muid. It's a serious wine that tastes like it cost three times its price. Feel free to drink it anytime over the coming decade or more. This is another perineal value that's a no brainer for inclusion here
